Sheltered Housing & Residential Care Home Projects

The demands placed on the wall covering systems do vary understandably from those required for sensitive areas in hospitals and medical laboratories. In the case of Sheltered Housing & Residential Care Homes, the objective is to ensure that the open-pore structure - together with a suitable emulsion paint grade such as our FINISH 233 or 235 - encourages natural moisture vapour diffusion. For most sectors it will be possible to utilise a local good quality emulsion paint whereby either matt or semi- gloss paints have proven best to achieve a higher quality performance.

The walls can then breathe and provide a pleasant ambience. Furthermore, ROHDE has been able to develop a much broader range of BS 4800, NCS and RAL shades which adds to make the spectrum even more decorative, warm, friendly & attractive.

ROHDE KG have also been very successful in catering to the requirements in the Sheltered Housing & Residential Care Home whereby individual personal tastes of the Architect and Client play an important role in determining which particular fabric grades are chosen. This is followed by such considerations such as durability, costs etc.

Fabric with a medium textured weave structure are chosen most frequently. If the cost factor also plays a dominant role, others could be taken. Fine weave structures are then selected when the emphasise is placed on surfaces being as smooth as possible.

Our ROHDE Systems are also ideal for high traffic areas, such as those of those around elevators and our System exhibits both high durability and ease of maintenance. In such cases, the "breath ability" is not the prime factor but the resilience of the coating to withstand hard " wear-and-tear" is essential. In these cases, we would recommend applying one coat of our Finish 233 as the Primer. This is waterborne speciality coating. Following this, and as the topcoat we would suggest that you apply two coats of either Finish 435 or 434. These are two-pack, aqueous based, DD- Polyurethane Finishes which were developed by ROHDE to provide seamless and resilient coatings.
